DataMarine's
AUSTRALIAN
WAR GRAVES
The two World Wars of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 claimed the lives of untold numbers of young men in the name of peace. They gave their lives in every corner of the world and tragically for many, there is no known grave... no marker to show just where they died. Their names live for ever on countless memorials worldwide, evidence of the sacrifice they made.
Many more remain close to where they fell, lying now in graves marked by a simple white headstone recording their name, unit, rank, and date of death and tended by officers of the British War Graves Commission.
Among the fallen of both World Wars were thousands of Australian servicemen. Many of them are now lying in military cemeteries scattered throughout the United Kingdom managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
In a brief move away from our maritime databases, DataMarine is indexing the graves of the Australian servicemen lying in some of these cemeteries in the south of England that hold the remains of men who died of their wounds, sickness or by accident whilst in service. As each cemetery index is complete, it will be incorporated into the alphabetical listing. More cemeteries will be added shortly. It will take time, for there are so many names.....
It is not our intention to profit in any way from this listing of the men who fell. Further details may be available on our own database or by direct approach to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. For travel information to each of the cemeteries included, or for details of our own services for photography, or for prayers of thanksgiving to be spoken at the graveside, please email us.
